Jubiläum - 60 Jahre Asics/Onitsuka Tiger
60 Jahre sind ein stolzes Alter. Personen in diesem Alter stagnieren oftmals, bremsen sich selber aus, sind für neue Ideen nicht mehr offen und setzen ihrer Kreativität mitunter grundlos Grenzen. Nicht so bei Asics. Das Sneakerlabel feiert in diesem Jahr seinen 60. Geburtstag und Altersschwäche wie auch Abnutzungsspuren sind auf keiner Mängelliste vermerkt.
1949 begann alles. Kihachiro Onitsuka entwickelt den ersten Sportschuh Asiens, nannte seine Schuhmanufaktur Onitsuka Tiger, zog unter dem Namen Asics in die weite Welt hinaus und gehört heutzutage zu den führenden Sportartikelunternehmen der Welt. Anlässlich zum Jubiläum feiert Asics diese Position gebührend und ruft einen Kunstwettbewerb aus.
Gemacht werden darf was gefällt. Grenzen werden den Teilnehmern nicht auferlegt. Lasst euch von der Marke inspieren und reicht ein, was euch als Erstes in den Kopf kommt. Sowohl Bilder, Fotografien und Filme als auch Musik, Skulpturen, Performances oder Installationen sind willkommen. Eine Jury wird die Sieger am 21. August 2009 auf der „60 Jahre Asics Feier" in Berlin ehren. Im Anschluss werden die 15 besten Exponate durch Deutschland touren.
Der Hauptpreis ist ein Praktikumsplatz im Asics Footwear Designzentrum in Amsterdam. Alle anderen haben die Chance, ein Jahres-Sneaker-Abo, Konzertkarten und limitierte Asics/Onitsuka Tiger Editions zu gewinnen.
