Morgen (31. Juli) eröffnet in London die erste Retrospektive des Fotografen Rankin. Der britische Portrait- und Modefotograf gründete gemeinsam mit Jefferson Hack das Dazed&Confused-Magazin und machte sich in der Londoner Szene schnell einen Ruf, indem er einst Blur und Pulp, später dann die Queen, Madonna oder Kate Moss ablichtete. Über 600 seiner Werke werden sieben Wochen lang in der Truman Brewery unter dem Namen "From Kate Moss to the Queen, 22 years in photography in one major retrospective" ausgestellt.

im Zuge der Vorbereitung gab es zudem "Rankin für alle": Gegen einen Betrag von 50 Pfund konnte sich jeder Brite bewerben, einmal von dem legendären Fotografen selbst fotografiert zu werden. Retrospective will chart the key images from Rankin's life as a photographer, and extensively elaborate on his 2007 book, "Visually Hungry". At once revealing, shocking, amusing and seductive, the exhibition is an exhilarating journey through a diverse portfolio. Experience the glamour of his celebrity portraits; the sweat and sensuality of his erotic work; the mischievousness of his provocative self-portraits; the intimacy of his Tuuli series; the graphic and luminous style of his fashion and beauty shots; the strength and dignity of his Oxfam images; and his personal family photographs. His most influential and iconic images will be exhibited alongside lesser known photographs from his more recent personal projects - it is through these as much as through his most famous images that we get a more intimate portrait of the artist himself: his motivations, his driving influences, his lifeblood. The Retrospective exhibition provides an unprecedented opportunity to review a vast and varied oeuvre, and follow the evolution of a career that has always been at the vanguard of the profession.
